I love cattle, they can be such a lovely animals to work with/around. We have a small Lowline Stud, all of our cattle are named, some are halter broken and they are fed Pat Colby's mineral and chaff mix every other morning. We hand raised two dairy heifers, who have been running with our Lowline Bull and we think they are both in calf now. I can't wait until we can milk them!

Have a lovely week,
SarahAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07424494318400885717noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1948397622243147877.post-61194677343310222622014-04-02T08:13:02.572+11:002014-04-02T08:13:02.572+11:00It sounds like you are really getting the hang of ...It sounds like you are really getting the hang of it! Do you use it all yourselves or perhaps sell some to help cover the feed costs? His nanna also made all her own butter and cream. He remembers it fondly. Bessie is looking well, you obviously know what you're doing. Keep it up and enjoy. I totally get that! It must be an amazing and wonderfully slow connection that makes you really value the milk that you now enjoy! We have four steers…there is talk of a milk cow, but I know we are not ready for it yet. Perhaps one day! xxBrenda @ 13 Acreshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15936530633161291153noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1948397622243147877.post-46368767107842580552014-03-25T17:56:57.769+11:002014-03-25T17:56:57.769+11:00My mum grew up with a house cow; a peasant backgro...My mum grew up with a house cow; a peasant background from eastern Europe. You have filled in the gaps for me btw. Thank you. I'm so glad it is all working out. We don't drink milk but raw is completely different and beneficial isn't it.
