Decluttered bedrooms part 1

As some of you may remember, we have been going through a decluttering of excess stuff in our home. A purge of sorts from some of the things that seemed to be weighing us down.  It's amazing how things accumulate over time. Our house is a fairly small one, so if you leave out an ironing board, a few stacks of books and a pile of paperwork it starts to look a little messy. And then there's the op shopping purchases...but let's not go there right now ;) So, in a bid to simplify, declutter and thus make the house easier to clean, we swapped bedrooms with the kids. Violet sleeps with us, so she is not in need of bedroom space..yet. So they got our larger, spacious room with plenty of cupboard space...and we moved into a smaller room. But I'm actually loving the fact that we can only fit the bed and bedside tables in. It is rather relaxing to only have minimal furniture in a room, white walls and no pictures.

So here is a little tour of the kids new space:

And the one thing I really miss...
Those of you with children would know just how hard it is to keep clutter to a minimum in a child's room. We threw out and donated a lot of stuff, only keeping what the kid's really loved and used often. We always try to keep toys to an absolute minimum, but somehow they still manage to accumulate. The kid's don't seem to be missing any of their old toys, or even having their own bedrooms. It is nice to see that they are enjoying the new company and space.

  3. So many lovely things. My eye kept jumping to the blanket box, to the crochet rug at the end of the bed, the chair at the desk...

...to the vintage sheet and the seed book in the post before this one. Lovely, lovely stuff.

Space is one thing we definitely lack in our home so I am always culling to make more room.
