interestingly uninteristing
Sometimes you can have the most interesting of uninteresting weekends.
I bartered the hemming of several pants, shirts and flannel shirt alterations for a whole lamb. The freezer is full again. Roast lamb tonight.
I learned how to make a traditional Lebanese salad with yoghurt cheese, from a neighbour.
I made cuppuccinos and scones for visitors.
I almost finished my very first skirt for myself. A Winter skirt in Summer. Because you never can tell around here.
I planted three more roses.
We mulched that garden within an inch of it's life. I think that makes ten bags of sugar cane mulch.
Julia surrounded herself with cookbooks and chose a birthday cake for Violet.
We ate strawberries straight out of the garden.
I visited the op shop and walked out with nothing.
I began writing up a map of the garden. Including descriptions of our fruit tree varieties. Daniel says I am a nerd.
We bought more tomatoes. To replace the ones we lost.
At the end of the day I enjoyed a glass of wine. Or two.
How was your weekend?

Sounds like the type of weekend I like best - with no real plans and lots of time to potter :) Our weekend was a few Christmas presents bought, biscuits baked, a breakfast picnic by the river followed by sandcastle building and splashing in the water for the girls and housework in between that. Enjoy your week ahead x
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great weekend to me. We spent lots of time in the garden, cleared the chicken coop and went for a walk along the river. It's really hotting up here - so lots of time spent outside.
ReplyDeleteYour strawberries are great looking.I lost every single one of my plants to rabbits so will have to start all over in the spring.
ReplyDeleteMy St. Anne rose is in bloom right now and looks just beautiful, I do love roses.
Yes but garden/craft/cooking nerds are the best ;-)
ReplyDeleteI wish I had space for a hundred more roses and fruit trees!
TIRING! No more carpet in the dining room. I WILL eventually eradicate it from my life - I HATE CARPET!
ReplyDeleteThat and working an overnight on Friday made for a very short weekend... good news though... short shifts this week so I will have more crafting time.
Sounds like a perfectly lovely weekend to me. It was so hot yesterday I stayed mostly indoors. Love the idea of eating strawberries straight from the garden - how divine!
ReplyDeleteYour weekend sounds perfect and I love the idea of a gardening plan, please post when it's done (I am a nerd though so this may not reassure you!) I worked, looked at ovens, lights and stools for our reno, rang previous clients of the builder we like, drew kitchen designs and wore yellow shoes all weekend. mel x
ReplyDeleteI think that sounds just the perfect amount of interesting! I love a good barter! And I wish I had a nerdy map of my garden! Our notes are so scattered...it makes rotating crops more challenging, but who doesn't love a good challenge!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a perfect weekend to me.
ReplyDeleteBartering a whole lamb! Now that sounds like an ideal trade.
ReplyDeleteMt weekend was sadly mostly spent catching up on work - but a few hours each afternoon outdoors with family made up for all the work time.
Cooking home-made pizza, hanging pictures in our new(ish) house, reading by the fire, visiting family and friends, night out with hubby and eldest son... I like your idea of interesting uninteresting weekends xo
ReplyDeleteThese weekends of meandering from one task to the next are my favourite.
ReplyDeleteWe really do need to bring the bartering system back :)
My weekend: brunch with friends, birthday celebrations, lots of cooking and eating, a few drinks and a wedding...phew am I glad it's a new week.
Happy Monday Tania.
x
What a great little trade of sewing for a whole lamb.
ReplyDeleteA simple yet productive weekend for you.
