in the evening

Summer finally arrived a few weeks ago in our little corner of the world. Daylight saving, which had seemed a little odd mixed with cold weather, has now given us extended warm evenings, and if we're lucky a sea breeze makes its way through our valley. Odd, I know, considering we don't live anywhere near the sea. But there you have it.

So we've been eating a little earlier in the evenings. Cleaning up quickly because nobody likes to come back inside to dirty dishes (I know I don't). We've been watering the garden, planting seedlings in the vegie garden, and filling up some old pots that have been sitting around empty forever.

Last night when the kids went to bed we made a coffee and sat on the verandah. We watched the moon, the stars and listened to the frogs croaking.  Sometimes it's the simple, quiet moments, the few still moments in the chaos of everyday life, that make you realize that life is indeed good.

  4. It is a beautiful time of year. We're trying to get used to the insects here in early evenings! Makes sitting outside in the cooler air a bit of a nuisance! x PS I love Violet's dresses.

  6. I love the evening when all afternoon duties including dinner is done and dusted, it's our chance to sit together as a family and share our day..even better at this time of the year when we are afforded a little more daylight.

My, how Violet has grown..she's quite the little girl now Tania.

  7. Wonderful! I'm enjoying the slowing down, quiet time of the arriving winter season. Time to sit inside where it is cozy warm and enjoy the little things as well, like a cup of hot tea and good book!

  8. Yes we love summer evenings too. We dont watch TV anymore in our house, unless we know there is something of interest on. This allows us to enjoy the simple things more. It is nice to sit outside when it is nice and watch the sun go down...perfect. I love the orange/red colours of the evening and the beautiful sunsets we witness when it is hot. I took a photo of the moon coming up the other night, but cant post it on my blog at the moment :)

    Enjoy your weekend,

    xx

  13. Why didn't i think of dinner early and then outside? We have been trying to fit outside in before dinner and the twins never want to come back in and then i get sidetracked in the garden because they are so content watering plants and playing in the cooler air...so bedtimes have been getting later and later!

  18. I'm a little further north than you, so a little wetter and warmer. Hence why I could not get over how weed-free your driveway was. I was very very jealous!

  19. we love a bit of twilight gardening here too. The kids are stuck inside for most the day cause of the heat, it's a great way to unwind. Beautiful photos.
