mundane
There are times when words don't flow so easily. When I feel that life has been so uneventful that I really don't have anything to say. But perhaps there is always something to say, even as mundane as life can be. Even on a Monday after an uneventful weekend. Even when forgot to take any new photos.
I woke to a misty grey morning. One that looks like it will bring needed rain. A relief after the relentless hot weather of the past week. Things have been far greener here lately, which is a very good thing for the old vegie patch and the grass. Not to mention those near empty water tanks. The temperature gauge tells me it is a fresh 14 degrees outside. Let's hope that rain holds off until I get those kids to school and back. It's a car free day today, and not by choice.
I've been trying to get up earlier lately. Getting up a little earlier I am able to pry myself off the littlest sleeping child, which is no easy feat, but somehow far easier at 6 than 7. I then have some breakfast, tidy, make a coffee and type a few things on the blog. Undisturbed child free time, when there is nothing I can hear but birds in the distance makes an earlier rise worth it. Even though I am not, and will never be a morning person.
Lunches are all packed in the fridge, and uniforms clean in cupboards. No doubt the start of another busy week. It feels like the holidays are a far distant thing already, and we are back in the predictable routine of school. The kids have settled right back in, and although things never stay the same, I know they are happy to be amongst their friends.
I guess there is a kind of comfort in the mundane afterall.
How was your weekend?
Is it raining where you are? A little greener than it has been?
Do you get up earlier for the peace and quiet?

Here is Qld about three hours northwest of Brisbane we had 7.5 mm of rain on Saturday it was just lovely. One of our 4 yo twins gets up as soon as someone else is up. It doesn't matter if it is 6 am or 4.10 am like it was this morning when dh got up for work. I got up with him today (I don't usually) so we could have a coffee together and there she was awake. Popped her into our bed and managed that coffee. I thought I would read some blog and such but no the little voice was calling out. I love mundane it keeps me sane.
ReplyDeleteThe rain was fairly heavy here for a while last night.
ReplyDeleteThe last week or so has been fairly same same. Staying home, sleeping in, easy meals.

This week was first week back at school over here in the west, so we have been attempting to squash a hint of routine back into our free and easy days. I must say, though, we are all loving the change that school brings!
ReplyDeleteHaving said that, I haven't blogged for over a week now, feeling like nothing much worthy of putting words to is happening in our quarter. Maybe, now, I will.
Have a lovely week, Tania and family.
We had some much needed rain fall last week - just after we had our water tank topped up, always the way huh? And my very bone dry vege patch got a bit of weeding done in preparation for re planting. I'm not a morning person but always get woken well before 6am by a wee person. I'm a night owl, so this does not help. Have a great week! xo
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of getting up earlier than the rest of the family ~ peacefulness to wake up properly, eat some breakfast, hop online and catch up ~ it's a sanity saver!
ReplyDeleteNot raining here, but it did last week and things are lush at the moment. Have a great week!
I did get up earlier! I, like you, am not a morning person. But how I long to be one!
ReplyDeleteIt helped that I'd invited my friend to pop down from upstairs for an early sharing of sour dough before she went to a meeting.
The cool of the morning and the peace and quiet was beautiful. We ate in the back yard.
Unfortunately the garden didn't get watered and now it's already hot. That will be my aim for future early rises.
Happy week!
Week day morning always find me up long before the sun. My Monday will start in just 6 1/2 hours when I get out of bed at 1:30 AM to be to work by 3 AM... the rest if the week I'll sleep "in" until 3 Am so I can be to work by 5 AM. But I LOVE the schedule even when I get tired and cranky as I am back home before everyone else has really gotten their day started and I have the house to myself for several hours. Our son sometimes comes home for lunch and then he and my hubby return home between 3 and 5 PM. I live the routine of our weekdays but also LOVE days like we had yesterday (Saturday)... it took 4 posts to write about our days adventures. HAPPY START to this new week!
ReplyDeleteI have been feeling the same lately, not a lot exciting going on here just more of the same but like you I enjoy the mundane of life too:) My weekend was busy with baking for a birthday morning tea for Miss 9 and family over on Sunday. Our yard is very green now after the enormous amount of rain we had in Qld just the other week, it's nice to see after how hot it had been. I wish I was a morning person, I'm trying though;) Enjoy your Monday. xx
ReplyDeleteAuckland seriously needs rain - we did have a brief downpour last week. I don't get out of bed earlier than 7.15 - kids get own breakfast and husband does school lunches and I look after myself. One child needs to be way more self sufficient at his age but we are working on it!
ReplyDeleteAS Kimberley mentioned - we desperately need rain here in Auckland. My two children started school last week, No. 1 child is off to intermediate in a different suburb, so I have been getting up earlier to ensure that she is ready on time to get to the bus stop at 7.30am. So far so good and I am amazed at how much more I achieve in the morning before they go to school by not lying in till 7-7.15 like I used too.
ReplyDeleteI live in Humpty Doo just south of Darwin. It is meant to be the wet season and we have had very little rain. It is so hot and humid the soul is being sucked out of me. Bring on the monsoon trough soon please!
ReplyDeleteThat's it, I'm getting up early tomorrow! Been trying to motivate myself for weeks. I'm a night owl, so even with the best intentions I find it very tough to get up (and I too am usually trying to pry myself away from the baby :) )
ReplyDeleteThe mention of coffee alone was what did it for me, thanks, I'm going to give it a go! xx

I am most decidedly NOT a morning person, but oh how I want to be. As such I've been getting up earlier and earlier over the years. Now I've managed to make my routine permit a bit of yoga, a cup of tea, and breakfast before heading out to work. It is so much better...though sometimes its hard to tell myself that still when the alarm goes off.
ReplyDeleteNo rain (as we're in winter), but we've got a lovely dusting of snow making everything sparkle with a hint of magic. I do hope your garden and tanks soon get their fill.
I always try and get up early just for that quiet time alone. Sometimes I get a blissful hour to myself, with chai on the side and clear thoughts. Sometimes, the careful untangling of the small child in the bed doesn't work, she wakes, which is then quite often accompanied by the other two waking as well. 5.15am everyone up?... sigh
ReplyDeleteHello Tania, I'm visiting from Rhonda's blog. When i read your profile and it mentioned 'village' i thought that you must be in the UK or Europe...but reading on, I realise that you are a fellow Aussie :-)
