weekend links

What took my fancy this week :-

  • These would be just perfect for a simple homemade housewarming gift.
  • And while on the subject of teatowels, I've been quite inspired to turn a vintage European tea towel into a tote like this one.
  • The bestest, creamiest polenta recipe ever.  Though I don't add the cheese, but add a wee bit more butter. We love ours with bolognese sauce.
  • An old woolen blanket made into nappy soaker covers. Who knew?
  • And because I adore the poetry of Robert Louis Stevenson.

And so I leave you with this quote and wish you all a wonderful weekend.

"To know what you prefer instead of humbly saying Amen to what the world tells you you ought to prefer, is to have kept your soul alive."
— Robert Louis Stevenson

I really like that quote too Tania and thanks for the links...yours are always great.

This is how I made a tea towel tote, very easy (but unlined) http://lucyvioletvintage.blogspot.com/2011/03/last-night-i-blew-away-cobwebs-and.html#links if you want to check it out...

On your house story and pics: gosh it looks wonderful Tania, you and your husband have done a wonderful job. Inspirational. Its definetely proof that you don't need to spend bucket loads of money to have a stylish and practical home. It's lovely.

Ooh those soakers are great...I knitted a heap of them for our little one but he outgrew them really fast.
I have a few handmade teatowels in my project basket...love the idea of using vintage ones to make bags.

I will definitely make some of those lovely dish towels. I'm thinking they would make a wonderful gift for my sister's and sister-in-law at Christmas. I so enjoy seeing what you some up with each week.
