a day in the life

I really had forgotten just what interesting little people toddlers were. Interesting as in their constant curiosity, patience testing,  their understanding of far more than they can say, the tantrum throwing and above all, how endearing they can be.

We don't really have a routine as such in the formal sense, as I was never a fan of routines. But our days do generally have a similar flow to them. The majority are spent at home, which tends to suit this little one. Breakfast with the kids before school, a midday nap, which may or may not be before lunch. School pick up and a slightly more hectic afternoon after that. In between all that there is play, but not usually with toys. It is much more fun to play with Mum's purse, try on Mum's jewelry or dance to music. We get outside to hang out the washing in the afternoon sunshine, and there is often a bike ride or two around the yard. And as much as I thought I would not, I will admit that there has been an old Dora dvd making an appearance lately. Sometimes you just need that 10 minutes to sit down and have a coffee to feel like yourself again.

Squirting herself and the windows with water, washing windows with a sock and tucking herself into bed to read my book are all in a days work for this busy little girl.

Wishing you all a very good weekend.

  3. what a lovely way to spend your days! I have to say, with my son at school and my daughter at home I love routine free days...just taking it a bit slower....getting things done together but letting her lead at times! Your pics are beautiful!!! have a great weekend xx

  5. She is such a gorgeous little miss! What fun Mama's things are! I joke that nothing is 'mine' anymore, but it's not far off being true. Even my English muffins in the morning are not my own. Cohen steals one when the feeling strikes him and now Emerson calls for a bit too.

Gorgeous pics and I love your pillows and cushions. My blog post for tomorrow has been inspired by you too. :)

  6. Oh she is such a gem!

Your home always looks so cozy and inviting, too. Those pages taped up by your lovely white bed! The vintage books out on tables! I adore it.

I like to see kids playing without toys. I always figure they end up more creative and learn to enjoy the labors of love that life requires by "playing" with window washing and pretending to be mom.

  12. What a cute girls you have here. Kids curiosity amuses me. They always ask bizarre questions that we adults don't know how to answer. Its so frustrating.

  14. What a precious post. I have two little preschoolers that follow me about. They tend to be happier doing what I do, just like Violet does with you. You're a great mama. Hope you're having a good week. ~Shanda
