some simple baby pants

I love the look of handmade baby clothes, rather than the mass produced ones that are so readily available these days. My pocket doesn't quite stretch to the higher end brands, which do have some gorgeous styles. So I have been putting my "experienced beginner" sewing skills to good use, with a number of recent projects for my three month old.
Last week I made some pants for baby Violet from the recently purchased Lotta Jansdotter's book Simple Sewing for Baby. Which, if you haven't checked out, is full of stylish but simple baby clothes.

Baby Violet seems to like them...

Fabric is a voile from Anna Maria Horner's Little Folks collection.
I went on to make another two pairs.

  1. What a cutie...I love this little outfit...My mum was a dressmaker but I unfortunately did not inherit her patience...I'd much rather be out in the garden, however I do dabble when I get some sparetime!!!!!!!!! Welcome to the world of Blogging, sounds like we have a lot in common. I look forward to following your journey. :)

  2. Thank you :) I am not an experienced sewer by any means, but my mum is. I love getting into the garden too..but a three month old in the house has kept me indoors a lot this summer! I noticed you had some very interesting posts (I need to re-read your ones on preserving, I need to to do some before the cold weather sets in) so look forward to doing some more reading on your site :)

  3. Cloth-nappied bottoms just make me go all squishy inside, and it looks like Violet has a good one going on there :) Such a sweetie!
