around the home

Right now we are thoroughly enjoying our school holidays. I am relishing the sleep ins and the general slower pace of the day. The kid's are moving from one activity to the next. Building a new cubby house, balloon "catch" and a mini game of soccer were a few of their self-chosen games. Sometimes outside, sometimes in. Fortunately we've had a little sunshine. But it looks like the rain is setting in.

I've managed to finish off the baby leggings. Completed on all four needles. Thinking of which project to attempt next.

Very much enjoying this book. The words and images are like a beautiful daydream, encouraging me to pause and reflect, something I have difficulty doing lately.

  1. I'm glad that you are having a grand time with the children and that they are allowed to create their own games and adventures. So many of the kids here in the US are "plugged in" all the time. We rarely see children playing in the neighborhood.

  3. Looks like nice relaxing times! Is that a Nectre wood heater? We have the baker's oven version and love, love it! I think you would really like the 'Simplicity Parenting' book I am reading now, if you like the Organised Simplicity one. I have actually been using a highlighter as I go through it, there are so many gems of information/affirmation. Highly recommended.

  4. Yay to a bit of sunshine and your children choosing how to occupy their time...my children love the outdoors and would much rather spend their days in the sunshine than cooped up inside.

I am envying your fireplace...it has been bitter cold here lately, oh and LOVE Violet's legwarmers :)

  8. Another lovely post!

The leggings look great, well done! I haven't tried knitting with any more than two needles yet.

Holidays are fun. My mum used to say that she enjoyed having us home for the holidays while it seemed that the other parents around complained. I love my children around me...

    Enjoy the slow pace :)

  9. When my children were small I loved the school holidays for exactly the same reason as you. Now I enjoy the school holidays because I am a teacher and although I love my job I do need time to recharge my batteries, take a breath and plan for the coming term.
